4great but flash not working after 6monthsMay 17, 2010
I really loved this camera. Great video, great picture and lots of features but last month after owning it for more than 6 months the flash stopped working. Now I am not able to select any of the flash mode, it always stuck at no flash mode. Sanyo warranty covers only parts after 3 months so I will have to pay for the labor. I hope someone helps me out how to fix the issue...(pphoton@yahoo.com)

1Doesn't even recordMar 01, 2010
Purchased the Sanyo 1010 over a year ago and have only used it a handful of times. The camera started showing signs of issues a few months after purchase where it wouldn't reliably switch between record and play mode using the toggle switch. It then went further downhill loosing the ability to zoom and record completely. After contacting Sanyo Service it came to my attention how awful customer relations are with this company. There are only two places in the entire USA that have the ability to repair Sanyo products. This makes for some rather high service costs.

Bottom line, if you're one of the lucky few that do not have any problems with this camera, it's small, light and cheap. Although, if you end up with a lemon like i did, you just wasted your money. Additionally, the software bundled with the product is useless.

I'd recommend paying a bit more for a company that stands behind their product.

5Preaty nice cameraFeb 24, 2010
Very easy to use, excellent video quality. Nice picture quality at 8MP.
I also bought a UV filter to protect the lenses so I don't have to use the lens cap.

5Amazing little cameraFeb 03, 2010
Just seeing the stats of the Sanyo XACTI HD 1010 will bring you to a hasty conclusion that there must be some sort of catch with this little camera, but surprisingly there is not. It is every bit the miracle it boasts and is a device that if sent back to 1980 would actually be seen as sci-fi. Small, comfortable and unbelievably capable, all pale in comparison to the Xacti's greatest trick: you might actually use it.

4Best camera I've ownedJan 21, 2010
I've been pleased with this camera (Xacti HD1010) In bright light, picture quality is terrific -- much better than any of the several Canon DV cameras I've owned. In dim light it's not as good, but still at least the equal of the older DV cameras. Controls are nicely laid out, so that the camera can be operated with one hand with a minimum of shakiness. There's a surprisingly long lag (.5 sec?) between starting a video and seeing the display, but you get used to it. The most important missing feature for me is the inability to input composite video; unlike my old DV camera, the Xacti can't be used to convert analog video to digital format. Oh, well; I knew this going in. I've made little use of the still-photo feature so far, but results seem unimpressive. Again, oh well. By leaving out features I don't absolutely require, this camera does its main job quite well at a reasonable price.
