Great pocket Camera.Jul 23, 2010 Great little pocket/travel Camera. Pictures are very clear and crisp. Only wish it had a little more zoom.
Good quality if you want a tough cameraJun 28, 2010 I wanted a pocket size camera that could be knocked around a bit (e.g. clumsy, outdoors person). This camera is quite good for that. Its "baptism" was on a tubing trip in Texas, and it was submerged rather a lot without issue.
It isn't necessarily great for distance pictures if you want to try and zoom in a bit. What surprised me is the amazing quality of macro shots. I did not expect that, but it is exactly the type of picture I love taking. I can use full zoom within a few inches of the subject, and the detail is impressive.
I will be going to Hawaii in a few weeks and am thrilled to have this camera. To be honest, it will not be my main camera. But it is a great accessory camera and to bring along when a bigger camera is too big or delicate to risk. It will be far more maneuverable than the "underwater bag" I used last time for my larger Canon.
If you do not need a sturdy camera, there are far better options. The feature of this is really that it takes decent pictures and you don't have to worry about it getting beaten up.
Nice camera for the beachJun 18, 2010 Good quality pictures, decent video. Great substitution when conditions are too hazardous for my dSLR.
High price to pay for 4 uses...Jun 12, 2010 This camera, albeit a great buy for taking fabulous underwater pictures, is not made for extensive use for underwater snorkeling. After four days of snorkeling in Hawaii and following the directions for cleaning and locking the battery and memory card compartment correctly, the camera filled with water in about 4 feet of water and ceased to work. That's a huge shame for a week's worth of images and 200+ dollars. I don't know how many users have attempted to really use the camera beyond a fish tank or two, but it's something to consider. Maybe it won't happen to you.
Amazing value!May 12, 2010 I am a video producer and this unit just saved me THOUSANDS of dollars by allowing me very good quality images above AND below water!!! In addition, I did NOT have to lug all sorts of equipment, just this little camera that fits in my pocket or around my wrist! BRAVO Panasonic!
