Works perfectly, cheaper on EbayAug 01, 2007

I was somewhat nervous since this battery has higher power (1800 mAh) than the OEM Nikon EN-EL9 (1000mAh). However it works perfectly and will not damage the camera at all (despite what some "Nikonians" would have you believe). The only difference is that this battery lasts even longer than the OEM unit, and is 1/2 to 1/3 the cost. It's a good idea to have a back-up battery for an all-day shoot, and this fits the bill without the cost of the OEM product.
BTW, I found this exact product on Ebay, where Eforcity (dba everydaysource dot com) is selling it for two dollars plus eight dollars shipping. The total cost is an excellent bargain.
** UPDATE 11/14/07-- The battery currently being offered is shown as 1200 mAh, not the 1800 of my original purchase, or the 1000 of the OEM Nikon battery. It is now $12 with shipping, but there may be some quality control issues... Also these sellers keep changing their dba names every few months, so caution is advised. Caveat Emptor

Two dollars worthNov 22, 2008
By Lilsdad I did NOT receive a "high capacity" battery! I got a standard 1000mAh battery. I should have known better for a 2 dollar price.

No point getting the OEM battery - This one lasts a long time tooSep 01, 2008
By Robert Henion I have two of these batteries and the OEM battery for my D40 and all 3 of them last at LEAST 400 shots with occasional flash, frequent reviewing of shots and the monitor left on for several seconds at a time (albeit on economy mode) and on standby at times. Save your money and get this instead of the OEM Nikon battery.

Improper Listing-Not a Nikon BatteryJun 10, 2010
By doug This battery is OK, no problems. However, I think Amazon should enforce truth in listing. This is not a Nikon ENEL battery. It is not a Nikon product, but the listing says it is a "Nikon D40 Replacement Battery EN-EL9." I'm happy with the battery but not the listing.
