There's a reason they discontinued this oneJul 14, 2010 Bought it as a refurbished unit from Tiger Direct. Very glad I bought the service contract for it too, since it was a refurb unit. Bought it as a Christmas gift for my wife and tried it out on a 500 mile trip and it worked great. Then I ordered the 2010 map update from Magellan that came free (within 30 days of new unit) and installed the memory chip. Followed all the instructions. The unit locked up once, then started working after reset. My wife used it at home to program a local trip and the screen went black. Reset, and it came to life only when plugged into the car or the wall charger. The next day it died completely. Only had it 3 months and used it about 4 times. Sent it back under the service contract and they sent us a check in about 30 days. I didn't have any luck with this one, will try a different one now that there are more "large" screen units out now.

not worth the money!Apr 06, 2010 I bought a Maestro 5310 March of last year from Amazon. I recently decided to upgrade the map which was two years old when I bought the GPS. I also decided to renew the traffic link. The map upgrade is $50.00 which is a discount from the regular price of $80.00. The traffic link is $40.00 for one year subscription. I only paid $200.00 for this unit and Magellan wants to charge me half of that to bring this unit up to date. I should be able to download an updated map for free through my computer. This would not set Magellan back one little bit! I attempted to find a traffic link without an annual charge. Magellan has this unit for several other gps units for $80.00 which I would be willing to pay since it has no annual $40.00 fee; yet for the 5310 they do not offer a traffic link without a yearly fee at all! Magellan is doing what many printer manufacturers have done with printer cartridges; They triple the cost of upgrades and accessories to make unreasonably high profits. I am sorry I bought this item. It is useless without the upgrades which I cannot afford.
EXELENT! and affoardable!!!Apr 05, 2010
Great size for those who have trouble seeing the smaller screens of other gps's. Easy and simple to use, multiple ways to program the destination. receives sat. signal very quickly.
Got mine for $90 on ebay. LOVE IT!
Overall:
Exelent quality
Exelent size
Exelent navigation processes.
maestro 5310Mar 25, 2010 It does everything I need in a GPS and more. I especially like the screen I get when I touch the upper left corner of the map screen. I use this screen when I am off-roading. I can use the Latitude and Longitude information and track myself on off-road maps. The ease of use and moving from screen to screen is excelent.

Good but not GreatJan 12, 2010 I really like this GPS. The screen is large. The volume is plenty loud enough. I keep the volume set at medium. At dusk it switches from a bright to a dark screen. The voice is pleasant and easy to understand. It is easy to enter street data. The directions are accurate.
I give the device a mediocre review for two reasons. I purchased two (not from amazon). Both were new and the battery would not hold a charge. However, it is easily replaced for about $19. The second bad thing is that the unit will freeze up and need to be reset. This has only happened on start up. It is easily reset by pressing the reset button on the back with a pen.
